OK, now this is one of those clever ideas that I knew I had to make.
My niece brought these to our Super Bowl party a few weeks ago, after spotting them on another recipe blog and we were all in love.
Cinnamon roll dough or Rhodes bread dough
1/3 cup butter, melted
1 cup brown sugar
2 1/2 TB ground cinnamon
cup cake liners
cream cheese frosting
ground cinnamon, for sprinkling
Roll out your favorite bread dough into a rectangle. Spread dough with 1/3 cup melted butter or follow your favorite recipe. In a small bowl combine brown sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle over melted butter.
Roll up and slice. I used the ends of my roll to put in my cup cake liners because they are smaller and the rest of your rolls can be placed in a sprayed jelly roll pan.
Bake 400 degrees for 15 minutes for the jelly roll pan and only about 8 minutes for the mini's, watching carefully. Do not over bake.
If you are making the original cinnamon rolls, spread with cream cheese frosting when hot out of the oven. Otherwise, if making the mini's, let cool completely before decorating.
Fill a baggy or pastry bag with cream cheese frosting and decorate your little cinnaloves. Sprinkle with cinnamon if desired.
Here's the original clone of a Cinnabon post and where you'll find the original recipe.
Our favorite Cream Cheese Frosting
1 pound bag powdered sugar
3/4 cups butter
1 8 ounce cream cheese
1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
Cream butter and cream cheese until smooth. Stir in vanilla. Gradually add powdered sugar and whip until smooth and creamy.
Thanks Az!! We loved them---You're such a Rock Star!
