Well, OK so you all know this one......
The famous Jello Poke cake but with a bit of a twist.
I thought "Valentine Polka Cake", sounded better :)
1 box white cake mix, prepared
8 ounce container Cool Whip, thawed
1 box Strawberry Jello (small package)
1 cup boiling water
1/2 cup cold water
red food coloring
conversation hearts
lollipops
Spray two heart pans, 8 or 9" with cooking spray. Prepare cake mix as directed on package. Divide in heart pans and bake as directed.
Let cakes cool for 15 minutes.
Meanwhile, boil 1 cup water. Add jello to small bowl and add 1 cup boiling water until Jello is dissolved. Add 1/2 cup cold water, stirring.
Place one of your heart cakes on cake stand. With fork, poke cake every inch or so. Pour half of jello over heart cake.
Stir a couple drops of red food coloring in 8 ounce Cool Whip tub, stir until you get a nice shade of pink. Spread over heart cake letting cream fall to the sides but don't frost them.
Repeat with second heart cake, placing on top of frosted heart cake. Carefully poke cake, as directed above. Slowly pour the rest of your Jello mixture over cake. Most of it will fall in the cake pokes and you'll get a really cool effect on the sides.
Top with remaining Cool Whip and make swirls. Refrigerate for 3 to 4 hours.
Decorate with conversation hearts and lollipops.
Let them eat cake!
