2 cups heavy cream
1 cup whole milk
3/4 cup sugar
pinch of salt
1 vanilla bean, split in half lengthwise
3/4 tsp. pure vanilla extract
Pour 1 cup of cream in medium saucepan. Add sugar and salt. Scrape the seeds from the vanilla bean into the saucepan and add the pod. Warm over medium heat, stirring constantly until sugar is dissolved.
Remove from heat and add 1 cup cream and 1 cup whole milk. Stir in vanilla extract.
Chill mixture in refrigerator for a few hours or overnight.
Remove vanilla bean pod.
Freeze mixture in your ice cream maker according to the manufacturer's instructions.
